Lucky Charlie! Would You Return a Missing Wallet?

 Lucky Charlie!

After reading this 9-year-old boy's plea for someone to return his missing wallet, we didn't have high hopes that he would be seeing his money again.

We were wrong.

But before we get into the kid's happy ending, you've got to take a look at his hand-written request, courtesy of The Daily Press.

Charlie must have struck just the right tone, because apparently someone did return his wallet -- complete with the full $300 he worked so hard to get, and the gift cards he'd received for his birthday.
Marvin Ward, the manager of the 7-Eleven where Charlie lost his wallet, announced Monday afternoon, "The wallet's been returned. Some lady turned it in and Charlie got his wallet back. Everything was in there. I'm just glad Charlie's got his wallet back."

But this story wouldn't be complete without some kind of life lesson. How about, "Don't leave $300 on the counter at 7-Eleven"?

Actually, Ward suggests the wallet might not have been stolen if Charlie had simply found a better place to set it.

"One of the probably worst places to lay something like that is near the Slurpee fountain," he said. "This is the time of the year that you sell so many Slurpees."

So the next time you're at a 7-Eleven and desperately need to set your wallet down and leave it unattended (it happens all the time, we know) make sure to tuck it under the magazine rack or something.

Just not by the Slurpees. That's crazy.
